USU Spectrum Arena

UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY spectrum arena

Method Studio, Inc. teamed with Utah State Athletics and Facilities to conduct a renovation feasibility study of the Spectrum Arena. The Spectrum was originally constructed in 1969 with the last major addition in 1986. While it is known to have “one of the best college basketball atmospheres in the West”, it is in need of major seismic, accessibility, capacity, code and hospitality updates. The feasibility study included opportunities for new or upgraded Arena improvements including; seating (traditional and premium), concourse design, way-finding, court expansion and flexibility, team support spaces, recruiting elements, revenue opportunities and venue support spaces. Focus was given to maintain and enhance the current unique qualities of the arena and the intimate fan experience it created while bringing it up to date with modern amenities and future flexibility. Method Studio provided multiple test fit solutions which explored graphic solutions beyond the qualitative and quantitative data provided. The feasibility study also covered possible phases, construction schedule and probably cost associated with such a complicated scope of work.
